Plantar Fasciitis

Plantar Fasciitis

One of the most common and debilitating conditions of the feet is plantar fasciitis. The hallmark of this condition is pain in the heel with the first few steps in the morning or after sitting for a prolonged period of time. With some simple stretches and a lot of hands on work with your physical therapist, you can get this condition under control in a matter of a few weeks.

To get your condition under control, make sure you wear supportive shoes. If you need extra support, I recommend the green Super Feet inserts. They are relatively cheap but give pretty good support if you are not looking to purchase custom orthotics.

Did you know your gym shoes don't last years? For a normal pair of gym shoes, it is best to use them for no more than 1 year, less if you get your 10k steps in per day.

Start with changing out your shoes if they are older than 1 year, getting a supportive shoe insert like the green Super Feet brand, and start with some basic calf stretching. If you truly want to get back to pain free sooner than later, give us a call to get back on track with our Doctor of Physical Therapy. 847-920-7110
