Physical Therapy at Home for Foot & Ankle Pain

Our feet take the brunt of our impact throughout the day. No wonder we see so many clients with foot and/or ankle injuries or conditions.  Our Doctor of Physical Therapy has worked closely with podiatrists in the Fox Valley region for conditions varying from plantar fasciitis to significant foot/ankle surgeries.  Each foot or ankle condition has its own set of symptoms and limitations which require specialized care from a physical therapist. What better way to recover from debilitating foot or ankle pain, than from the comfort of your own home.

Plantar Fasciitis

The most common foot ailment to date is plantar fasciitis. The main symptom with this condition is pain in the heel with the first few steps in the morning or after sitting for a prolonged period of time.  The longer you wait to seek treatment, the more difficult and time consuming it is to fully resolve your condition.  If you suspect you have plantar fasciitis, give us a call to schedule an appointment 847 920 7110.  The good news is regardless of how long you have had symptoms, you should start to have relief within the first 2 weeks of physical therapy.

Achilles Tendonitis or Tendonosis

With achilles tendonitis or tendonosis you may initially have a mild ache in the lower leg during walking/running or stair climbing activities.  As your condition worsens you may experience more intense pain, or the pain may linger for a longer duration after aggravating activities.  This is a fairly simple condition to treat with specific exercises, lots of hands on work by your physical therapist and avoiding aggravating activities for a short period of time. Give us a call 847 920 7110 to get back to the activities you love to do, pain-free.

Sprains, Strains, Fractures

Ankle sprains can vary in severity, from mild to grade 3 full ligament tears.  All ankle sprains can benefit from physical therapy, even for only a few sessions. These physical therapy sessions can teach you valuable ankle strengthening exercises, stability exercises and ways to prevent future ankle sprains.

Usually with more severe ankle sprains/strains and fractures you will be in a walking boot.  Walking boots help protect the area from re-injury, but they also cause significant ankle stiffness. Physical therapy can help restore your ankle motion, reduce your pain and get you back on your feet.

Post-Surgery Physical Therapy

After most foot and ankle surgeries, you will need physical therapy to address any remaining limitations from swelling, stiffness, and weakness. Our Doctor of Physical Therapy has extensive experience with post-surgery physical therapy for many foot and ankle surgeries.
